Description
The Nurses' Health Studies (NHS) are long-running, questionnaire-based studies on women's health. The study was started in 1976 and expanded in 1989 and includes data from 238,000 female, nurse-participants. The study focuses on cancer, cardiovascular disease and risk factors for chronic health issues in women. The dataset includes both survey data and biospecimens.

Users must submit a letter of intent to Dr. Francine Grodstein, Nurses' Health Study (NHS) Director and/or Dr. Heather Eliassen, NHSII Director explaining their research hypothesis, significance, proposed use of data, cohort data variables needed for analysis, reasons for using NHS data and discussion of ethical implications. A study proposal must be provided. Researchers must provide funding for their studies and include funding for an NHS staff member as co-investigator. The study site offers detailed instructions for applying to use the data archive and to access biospecimens.
