Description
The SHOUT (Stroke Health Outcomes) SQL Database collects all stroke patients who are at least 18 years old from within the Northwell Health system’s electronic medical records, from 2014-2021. It uses their diagnostic codes, and if they had an MRS Score reported, to determine if they had a stroke. The data fields within the database have been made to conform to the NINDS Common Data Elements preferred reporting standards when a corresponding CDE has been found. As per the Stroke Startup Resource 2020 Version 2.0 found on their website, we have recorded all fields listed as Core CDE’s, and several fields listed as Supplemental – Highly Recommended. The database contains measures related to Demographics, stroke clinical measurements, diagnostic codes, treatment records, and medical history. These records are recorded on an event level per patient, where visits to multiple hospitals are linked, using time-difference between hospital visits to determine if strokes are linked.
