- ACCORD was a large clinical trial examining methods of lowering the rate of cardiovascular disease in adults with type two diabetes. The study was composed of three clinical trials: an intensive lowering of blood sugar levels, intensive lowering of blood pressure, and treatment of multiple blood lipids with a combination of a fibrate and a statin. The study enrolled 10,251 adults beginning in 2001.

- Researchers can apply to use ACCORD data through BioLINCC (registration required). According to the ACCORD Study Protocol, all ancillary studies must be reviewed and approved to access data. An ACCORD principal investigator or co-investigator must be included as the PI or co-investigator on an ancillary study. Studies should allow at least 60 days before a funding application deadline to assure timely approval.
